STMicroelectronics is a broad range semiconductor manufacturer, ranked as 3rd largest supplier of 8-bit microcontrollers (source: DataQuest, 1999).
The ST6 family, with legendary noise immunity, is focused on low end cost-sensitive applications in the automotive, white goods, security and industrial markets.
The new ST7 family addresses a huge application range from low-end 8-bit to 60byte high performance systems. It includes on-chip FLASH, CAN, Motor Control, USB, ADCs, PWMs, smartcard interfaces, voltage regulators, and even rail-to-rail OpAmps. The ST7 is used in automotive, consumer, telecom and industrial applications.
The ST9 family fills the gap between 8-bit and 16-bit micros, offering high performance and sophisticated peripheral of 16-bit systems at 8-bit prices. Major ST9 applications include metering, automotive (incl. F1850), TVs and monitors. Look out for the new ST92F120, with up to 128bytes of on-chip FLASH.
The ST10 family of sophisticated high performance 16-bit micros is aimed at the automotive powertrain, heavy industrial, and telecom switching markets.
